The eligibility criteria to apply for KRU Academy programmes are as follows: –

• Malaysian citizen
• Age 16 to 35 years old
• Creative (must pass KRU Academy’s interview)
• Good oral and written communications skills in English and Malay
• Good academic qualifications is desired but not essential
• Not afflicted with color blindness

Yes, KRU Academy is an accredited training center certified by the Department of Skills Development Malaysia.

Vocational education and industry-based learning is a globally proven and effective method that combines industry job experience with technical training to create skilled talent pool.

Currently, we are offering 3 programmes namely: –

1. Diploma & Certificate in Visual Effects
2. Diploma & Certificate in 3D Animation
3. Diploma & Certificate in 2D Animation

There are 3 semesters for Certificate programmes and 6 semesters for Diploma programmes.

Certificate programmes will take 1 year while Diploma programmes will take 2 years and 3 months to complete.

NOSS is National Occupational Skills Standards designed by industry professionals and academicians to train students in developing specific skills set to join the job market. All NOSS are approved and certified by the Department of Skills Development Malaysia.

WIM is Written Instructional Manual designed by the training center’s academic team based on the NOSS structure approved by the Department of Skills Development Malaysia.

WIM functions as the teaching module throughout the training process.

All lecturers, whether from academic or industry background or both will have to undertake the Department of Skills Development Malaysia training programme and certified as the Vocational Training Officer (VTO). Each lecturer will only be allowed to train up to 25 students at any one time.

All our lecturers are exposed to the industry’s best practices whether through prior employment or through KRU Academy’s “Training The Trainers” programme such as: –

1. Short term postings in production studios
2. In-house training with industry professionals and guest lecturers
3. External training and master-class programs

Based on 70% practical and 30% theoretical training methodology, students will be assessed at the end of every semester using Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). An external panel appointed by the Department of Skills Development will assess the students’ portfolio apart from written examination.

The fee structure depends on the choice of programme, level of certification and various logistics options. Please contact our Student Services department for detailed information and consultation.

Scholarships and study loans are available for eligible candidates subject to the terms and conditions set by sponsors and funders. For more information on this matter, please contact our Student Services department for consultation.

Scholarship or study loan will only be processed and evaluated by the funder for applicants with the Letter of Offer from KRU Academy. KRU Academy does not guarantee approval of any scholarship or study loan.

The normal process is for the applicant to start the first semester at KRU Academy with private funding. Applicants for third party funding will need to complete the application form and upon favorable review, the applicant will be called for an interview by the funder.

For successful applicants, the funder will pay fully or partly the tuition fee and/or related costs throughout the term at KRU Academy. If the funding amount equals to the fee payable to KRU Academy or more, the student will get the refund from KRU Academy for the fees paid by the student prior to obtaining third party funding.

Accommodation, transportation, food and beverages and all other cost of living may sometimes be included in the scholarship or study loan provided by the funders however there are funders who do not give such provisions.

Nevertheless, KRU Academy’s Student Services department will support students to get favorable discounts for accommodation, transportation and food and beverages throughout their stay in Bukit Jalil.

Bukit Jalil is a multi-billion Ringgit development with advanced infrastructure and facilities. For those without financial constraints, there are luxury apartments, restaurants and recreational outlets to enjoy the best in life.

Nevertheless, it is KRU Academy’s continuous effort to ensure that our students are not burdened with the high cost of living. Our hostel monthly rent starts from as low as RM300 per month and 3 meals at RM16.50 per day.

The targeted outcome is 70% of our graduates to get employment opportunities, 20% to pursue degree programs and 10% to join the industry as entrepreneurs. 

Apart from joining the industry as professionals, KRU Academy graduates may also opt to pursue studies for various degree programmes offered by KRU Academy’s academic partners.
