Dato’ Norman Abdul Halim was exposed to the world of business at the early age of 20, after graduating with a Diploma in Accountancy. Armed with a vision, he put to practice the knowledge he had accumulated together with his natural instincts and flair for marketing to bring the KRU Group of Companies to life and almost immediate success. Since then with his strategic leadership, he has masterminded success after success, putting his unique combination of skills, talent and business acumen to the test.
These numerous achievements resulted in him receiving the Outstanding Entrepreneur Award in 2007 from the Asia Pacific Entrepreneur Awards. Today, more than twenty five years later, he has propelled the Group to the forefront of the world of media and entertainment both domestically and across foreign shores.
To support KRU’s expansion in the domestic and international markets, Dato’ Norman founded KRU Academy in 2012 as a vocational college specializing in skills related to entrepreneurship and the creative industry. Now, KRU Academy is a leading private vocational college in the creative industry supporting the national agenda in supplying skilled talent pool not only for KRU Group of Companies but also for the industry at large.
Dato’ Norman’s expertise is sought by many other organisations as reflected by his posts in numerous associations including, Chairman of IFPI (International Federation of the Phonographic Industry) Asia Pacific Board and President of PFM (Persatuan Penerbit Filem Malaysia) and many more. His tireless efforts in the fight against piracy led to him being presented with the MPA Asia – Pacific Copyright Educator (A.C.E.) Award in recognition of his important contribution in working alongside the Motion Pictures Association of America in raising awareness of the importance of promoting content protection in the country.
